Sparsh Shah, a prodigy sings National Anthem at Howdy Modi

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the United States to participate in the Howdy Modi event, several NRIs are welcoming him in different ways.

Sparsh Shah is an Indian-American 16-year-old boy. He has sung Jana Gana Mana, the Indian national anthem in the event that took place in Houston, Texas.

Sparsh Shah expressed his happiness for the honour of singing the national anthem in front of more than 50,000 people.

Sparsh is a child prodigy. Despite his physical condition of Osteogenesis imperfecta, he excelled in various fields.


Due to his medical condition, he is restricted to a wheelchair. He can’t bear weight on his hands or legs. His bones are very fragile and even a hard handshake can break them.

He had more than 135 multiple rod surgeries for his fractures.

Yet, due to his skills, he has been ranked in one of the top 10 Indian-origin child prodigies by Yahoo. He appeared on various radio and television programs including KBC.

Sparsh was able to spell a 45 letter word — Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis when he was six-year-old.

He then achieved several things later. He can say the 12 longest words in the English dictionary in less than 18 seconds. He can speak in at least four different accents in English.

He has memorised 250 digits of Pi. Not just that, he had written many poems, short stories and motivational speeches.

He even acted in a play called The Greatest Choice at the Crossroads Theatre in New Jersey.

Sparsh became popular by recording a video that covers the renowned song ‘Not Afraid’. More than 65 million people watched the video.

A documentary has been released on his life and struggles in 2018.

Now again, Sparsh made the news headlines due to his presence in the PM Modi’s event in the US.

His capabilities came into the light despite his physical immobility and are being praised by several citizens in the country.
