Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Howdy Modi event to address the Indian-American community along with US President Donald Trump at NSG Stadium, Houston, Texas.

Texas India Forum organized the event. The tagline of the event is ‘Shared Dreams, Bright Futures’.

This mega event witnessed the largest gathering of Indian-Americans with over 50,000 people.

Both the leaders expected to strengthen the bond between India and the US.


Here are the highlights of Howdy Modi event:

  • PM Modi in his speech highlighted the government’s programmers for the welfare of people in India.
  • He also talked about his government’s decision on scrapping the special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that now Kashmiris have equal rights in the country like all other citizens.
  • PM also attacked Pakistan in his speech without naming it. He said that they support terror and harbour terrorists.
  • He added that now the time has come to fight against those who support terrorism.
  • PM said that everything is going great in India.
  • Though patience is the identity of Indians, they are impatient for the country’s progress.
  • Rural sanitation in India is 99 per cent.
  • The cheapest data is available in India with 1 GB data costing just 25 – 30 cents.
  • Modi said that the linguistic diversity, food habits, climate and diversity with respect to religion in the country make it unique.
  • PM said that Trump is a master of the ‘art of the deal’; hence he is learning many things from Trump.
  • PM invited the US President to India.
  • Donald Trump called the PM as a ‘tough negotiator’. He also said that Modi is the greatest and most loyal friend of America.
  • He added that the bond between both countries is stronger than ever before.
  • Trump said the border security is important for both India and the US.
