The Story Behind Iceberg Organic Icecreams

With summer’s scorching heat bearing down, ice cream becomes the perfect respite.

Yet, typical ice creams are often filled with preservatives, artificial colours, and excess sugar.

Suhas B Shetty, the innovative mind behind Iceberg Organic Icecreams, set out to offer a healthier, natural option.

Raised in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Suhas pursued higher education away from home.

After completing his PhD in pharmacy, he returned to his roots, wanting to stay close to his family.

Noticing the availability of pure milk in Nellore, Suhas saw a unique business opportunity.

Drawing inspiration from his grandparents, who once operated a local ice cream business, he decided to start his own venture.

In 2013, Suhas launched a small ice cream outlet. His first batch of 45 litres sold out in just two days.

The word spread rapidly, forcing him to double his production. Within three years, he had expanded to over 15 stores across South India and ventured into B2B franchising.

Despite his thriving business, Suhas yearned for more meaningful work. In 2017, he transitioned to producing organic ice creams.

He focused on using pure desi cow milk, organic butter, and natural sweeteners like mishri. He eliminated preservatives, opting for edible gum to naturally extend shelf life.

Suhas also embraced sustainability. His Nellore factories run on solar power, and wastewater from cleaning processes is recycled for gardening. This eco-friendly approach aligns with his commitment to organic, sustainable living.

Iceberg Organic Icecreams offers a wide range of flavours, from classic vanilla and chocolate to unique options like charcoal and jackfruit. Recently, the company introduced ice cream made from camel, goat, and donkey milk, pioneering this niche market.

Many loyal customers appreciate the unique flavours and guilt-free indulgence. The company now operates around 70 physical outlets and 100 dark stores through platforms like Zomato.

Looking ahead, Suhas plans to introduce organic ice cream cakes and whole wheat-based products.

With an annual revenue of ₹12 crore, Iceberg Organic Icecreams reflects Suhas’s dedication to quality, innovation, and sustainability.
