P-TAL is a startup committed to preserving and revitalizing the traditional Thathera craft of handmade brass, copper, and bronze utensils.

The startup was founded in 2019 by Aditya Aggarwal, Kirti Goyal, and Gaurav Garg when they were at Shri Ram College of Commerce.

P-TAL is on a mission to bring this ancient art form into the modern market while emphasizing its cultural and health benefits.

The Thathera craft, which has been practised for generations, involves the meticulous handcrafting of metal utensils.

P-TAL specializes in creating these artisanal pieces, which are not only beautiful but also known for their nutritional value when used in cooking and dining.

By focusing on the quality and authenticity of their products, P-TAL aims to reintroduce this age-old practice to contemporary households.

P-TAL’s impact extends beyond just commercial success; it has also become a lifeline for approximately 55 Thathera families from Jandiala Gurudwara, near Amritsar.

These families, who were once struggling to make ends meet, have experienced a significant transformation in their lives.

Their monthly incomes have risen from modest amounts to substantial figures, ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh, thanks to the demand for their handcrafted utensils.

Despite initial doubts from some of the investors on Shark Tank India Season 3 regarding the luxury status of P-TAL’s products, the startup’s dedication to preserving heritage and delivering quality soon won them over.

P-TAL’s revenue growth tells a compelling story, with sales soaring from ₹21 lakh in 2019-20 to nearly ₹4 crore in 2022-23.

The startup secured a landmark deal on the show, clinching an investment of ₹1 crore for 3.2% equity at a valuation of ₹31.25 crore.

With this infusion of funds and a strong online presence, complemented by a retail outlet in Delhi, P-TAL is now poised for further expansion.

As it continues to blend tradition with modernity, P-TAL is tapping into India’s burgeoning market for traditional utensils, estimated at ₹30-35 thousand crores. In addition, the startup is set to carve out a significant niche in this space.
