MissCallPay allows UPI payments with a missed call | Fusion - WeRIndia

UPI payments are one of the most popular payment methods in India. Due to their ease in the payment and receipt of funds, many people prefer them.

However, only smartphone users and tech-savvy customers use the payment method. The feature phone users are unable to use it as they cannot download the payment apps.

In this context, a startup, MissCallPay came up with an excellent solution for feature phone users to access UPI payments.

To bring feature phone users under the ambit of UPI payments, MissCallPay rolled out a facility. Its solution is built under the UPI123 system. Feature phone users can give a missed call to access the service.

Mitesh Thakker is the founder of the startup. The startup partnered with the Bank of India and IDFC First Bank to roll out the facility.

The solution allows feature phone users to transfer funds and make bill payments by just giving a missed to 08066740740. While giving a missed call, users need to wait till it is disconnected automatically.

They will get a callback from MissCallPay. They need to enter the UPI PIN to authenticate the transaction. In this way, they can finish UPI payments easily with the help of the startup.

The IVR-based system supports 12 Indian languages. The startup used automation to record IVR interfaces. It faced many challenges.

One of them is to capture the details of bank details accurately. For instance, the name of the State Bank of India is pronounced as SBI by some people, while others term it as the State Bank. In this context, the system has to understand all variations in the name.

Since it deals with financial transactions, safety is the most vital element. When a user gives a missed call and gets a callback from the startup in 10 seconds, it is important that the call mustn’t be traced by hackers.

As users set their preferred language, they will receive the call in the same language. Hackers don’t know your preferred language. Hence you can avoid answering fake calls.

MissCallPay assures quick payments with a simple user interface. It says that many people are using it.
