WhatsApp will stop working on these phones
WhatsApp is one of the most famous apps as it works across all platform. Even basic phone users can use it.
WhatsApp supports older versions of the operating system and retains its popularity.
However, every now and then, WhatsApp discontinues its support to outdated phones. So, those who are using outdated versions of phones should have to change if they want to use WhatsApp.
The social media app has been adding new features and most of these features need powerful phones to function properly.
Now due to the up-gradation of several new features on WhatsApp, it will not work on older versions of Android and iOS.
If your phone is operating on Android version 2.3.7 or older and iPhones running iOS 7 and older, they will not be able to support WhatsApp after February 1, 2020.
These phones will no longer get security updates and will be unable to verify existing accounts.
WhatsApp’s latest features like picture-in-picture video within chats, fingerprint authentications etc. require powerful phones with enough RAM and newer OS.
Furthermore, several new features are going to be introduced by it in the future. In this context, it decided to stop supporting the phones that operated on older versions.
Tablet users would also get limited support. If you are using Windows Phone, then the version should be 8.1 or later.
Hence, users are recommended to upgrade to a newer version of operating system for the proper functioning of WhatsApp.
The modified, unlocked or jailbroken versions of Apple’s iPhones would also not get support from WhatsApp.
WhatsApp users that are using iPhone X or a later variant of the iPhone can use memoji stickers while chatting, but, they need to download iOS 13 on their iPhones.
