How to turn your home eco-friendly
In order to control plastic and other products that damage the environment, several people are opting for eco-friendly products.
If you are environmentally conscious, then here are the ways to turn your home eco-friendly.
- The first and foremost thing with which the daily routine of a normal person starts with is brushing. Most people use plastic brushes. But, now bamboo toothbrushes are available in the market. You can buy one brush for as low as ₹100.
- Managing kitchen waste is another thing that many people feel is difficult. Now, different composters are available in the market. You can buy one composter to manage your kitchen waste and get manure.
- If you care about your family’s health, use non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning agents including floor cleaners to toilet cleaners, and dishwashing liquids.
- As plastic carry bags take several hundred years to decompose in the soil, choose alternative bags that are made with cloth and jute.
- The sanitary napkins available in the market take up to 800 years to decompose, opt for other alternatives like cloth pads or menstrual cups that can be reusable. That way, you can save your money and the environment as well.
- Like sanitary napkins, diapers to babies also have several layers of plastic mixed with absorbent gels. These are not completely safe for your toddlers. Moreover, they increase plastic pollution. Hence, use cloth diapers or any other reusable diapers.
- Save water to save the environment and future generations from the water crisis.
- Now, the usage of bamboo fiber is growing in the fashion industry as well. So opt for bamboo which consumes one-third less water than cotton and absorbs more carbon dioxide.
- Instead of consuming rice and wheat that require a lot of water, start eating millets which consume less water.
- Use eco-friendly stationery to save the environment as well.
