Parents reunite with missing son due to TV show
Many Television programmes are airing on various channels in the country. Most of them just entertain the viewers while some of them provide knowledge. But, only some TV shows help viewers in some way.
Here is an instance where a TV program helped parents reunite with their missing son who is mentally challenged. The boy was missed nearly three years ago.
Parents of a 13-year-old boy were watching the news bulletin on ‘Doordarshan Kolkata’. They spotted their son among the inpatients of a home for mentally ill persons in West Bengal.
The boy went missing nearly three years ago from a field near his residence in north Kolkata.
His father lodged a police complaint about the incident, yet they could not find him.
The boy was rescued by the authorities of Nadia district last year from Karimpur and kept him at a government home.
But with the help of the TV show, the family members identified their son. The boy’s father Kartik Shaw contacted the police immediately and they got in touch with Doordarshan news unit.
They came to know that the home is run by Moslem Munshi, an employee of the State Sericulture Department. The home is located at Nakashipara area of Nadia district.
The District Child Welfare Committee sent the boy to ‘Nirmal Hriday’ around one-and-a-half-years ago.
Now that the parents found their boy on a TV show, they contacted the authorities and reached Nakashipara to meet him.
The parents could not hold back their tears seeing their son after a long time. Munshi said that the boy will be handed over to his parents as soon as the completion of formalities at the office of the Child Welfare Committee.
