India’s youth urged to lead amid global shifts
At the 9th convocation of IIM Sambalpur, P. K. Mishra spoke about India’s strong global position.
He also discussed the growing challenges in the international scene. He encouraged students to be prepared and contribute to the nation’s progress.
Although India’s economy is on a steady rise, he emphasised that young professionals must be ready to face a fast-changing world shaped by geopolitical tensions and shifting trade dynamics.
To begin with, Mishra noted that India is navigating through a period of significant transformation.
Despite its economic strength, the country faces the major challenge of creating 8 to 10 million jobs each year.
In response, the government has introduced large-scale initiatives such as Digital India and Skill India.
These programs, according to him, are crucial in helping the youth gain both academic knowledge and real-world capabilities.
Furthermore, he pointed out that India’s demographic advantage, growing economy, and expanding global ties position it as a key player in shaping the future.
Consequently, Mishra encouraged graduates to align themselves with the nation’s development goals, particularly the vision of Viksit Bharat, a future-ready and self-reliant India.
At the same event, Mishra said the world is becoming more unstable. He spoke about rising trade barriers, problems in global supply chains, and growing political tensions.
These issues are making international relations more difficult and complex for all countries.
Moreover, technological innovation and sustainability concerns are emerging as dominant global themes.
In this context, India’s rapidly growing digital infrastructure, with over 800 million internet users, serves as both an asset and a responsibility.
Therefore, Mishra urged students to take ownership of their futures. He said their education is a strong base.
Now, they should move forward with confidence. He encouraged them to shape their own paths and help in building the nation’s future.
Mishra reminded the audience that while India is well-positioned globally, it is the country’s youth who will determine how effectively it can navigate global challenges and seize future opportunities.
