Chennai-based Agnikul Cosmos is revolutionizing commercial space missions by utilizing 3D technology to construct low-cost rockets.

The startup was co-founded by Srinath Ravichandran and Moin SPM, graduates of IIT Madras. It is reshaping the way satellites journey into space.

Unlike traditional rocket manufacturing processes involving joining and welding, Agnikul’s approach eliminates these steps.

The founders say that conventional methods can take up to six months to build a rocket engine. However, they can accomplish the task in just three days, using 3D technology.

As a result, Agnikul’s rockets are 6–7 times more cost-effective than conventionally constructed ones.

According to Moin, the co-founder, opening up space as a platform will have profound implications for multiple industries, particularly due to the abundance of data it provides.

Data, he asserts, is the next major asset in today’s world. For instance, insurance companies are seeking space-derived data to aid loan decision-making.

Moin envisions a future where such data is accessible at the smartphone level. It enables even farmers to assess the probability of their yields and make informed decisions.

Furthermore, space-based data can assist in understanding factors like weather patterns. So, they ultimately advance various sectors towards their goals.
