Why Men? It's the Turn of Women to Propose - Changing Attitudes of Indian Men in Marriage Proposals | Fusion - WeRIndia

It is common in any relationship for the guy to propose to the girl and move the relationship to next level. But, a recent survey of India Today has revealed that an increasing amount of Indian guys prefer to have their girl make the first move. This survey was conducted with over 6,500 single Indian men belonging to the age group of 25 to 36. It was conducted by the matrimonial portal Shaadi.com with the aim of understanding men’s perspective on proposals.

Based on the results of the survey, it is found that 71.7 percent of men prefer to have the woman propose to them instead of them doing it. 63.8 percent of the men who are surveyed have stated that the modern women in India are confident enough to make a first move towards a relationship. The 36.2 percent have stated that they believe it is hard for a woman to make the first move because it is not the tradition.

When asked about the way how men would like to be proposed by a woman. 61.2 percent of responders have chosen face to face interactions. The others are fine with digital interaction too. 21.4 percent of the men are okay with a phone conversation, 9.8 percent of them are fine with using Whatsapp (a mobile application), and 7.6 percent have stated that they would be okay with Facebook.
