War of CMs

War of CMs

The South Indian CMs are in a battle of investments. The CMs of five states of South India are competing for investors for their respective states. The big loser in this war seems to be the Karnataka. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah does not seem to be communicating an industry friendly image very efficiently.

His attempts so far seem halfhearted and clumsy. One of the oldest influential CM is none other than Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh state. Naidu seems to be very enthusiastic about luring investors to the newly formed state. He seems to be focusing more on capturing the IT and technology companies from Karnataka, and the exciting manufacturing companies from Tamil Nadu.

The battle for IT between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka seems like a throwback to past. S.M. Krishna, the former CM of Karnataka had pitched a battle for new IT investments with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the early 2000s.

Naidu proceeded in his strictly business style to attract companies like Microsoft to set up in his state. Apparently, even Narendra Modi has learned early lessons from Naidu. Naidu making a comeback in Andhra Pradesh could make this war even more of a tug of war situation now.
