Universities to observe Surgical Strike Day

As per the directions of the University Grants Commission (UGC), all universities in the country are going to observe ‘Surgical Strike Day’ on September 29.

In this regard, UGC issued directions to universities and higher educational institutions throughout the country.

In addition to that, the activities list has also been prescribed to the universities. These activities will be undertaken as part of celebrations.

Some of the prescribed activities include special parades, talks about sacrifices of armed forces by ex-servicemen, visiting exhibitions and sending greeting cards to the armed forces to pledge their support.

Do you know that why September 29 was chosen to be observed as surgical strike day?

India carried out surgical strikes on September 29, 2016 across the LoC. It includes seven terror launch pads.

Even though it caused substantial casualties to Indian army, they fought bravely with the terrorists of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In this regards, UGC decided to observe surgical strike day to commemorate the brave heroes of our country.

The Commission says that the NCC units of all universities should organize a special parade on the day followed by the talk of NCC commander on the modalities to protect the country against terrorist attacks in borders.

Then, various talk-sessions of ex-servicemen would be held to motivate the students. These talks will mainly focus on the sacrifices of the armed forces who died or were injured for the country.

Then, a multimedia exhibition will also be organized around India Gate.

In this context, the UGC sent communication to all Vice Chancellors yesterday.

It also suggested that the students send greeting cards and letters to the armed forces and express their support to them.

They should be shared with PRO Defence as well as be publicized on social media.
