#Selfiewithdaughter became a world trend after PM Modi addressed the nation in his Mann ki Baat and asked the people to post their photos that were taken along with their daughters.

PM Modi in his radio programme stated that the decrease of sex ratio of girl child to boys is worrisome.

The initiative of a village sarpanch in Haryana to promote ‘Beti Bachao’ is appreciated by PM Modi. PM Modi added that the initiative Selfie with Daughter under which the selfies of fathers with their daughters would be shared on social media, became the number one trend in India. The initiative also inspired PM Modi.

Modi requested people to put up a selfie using the hashtag and post it to him, and also writing a message for #betibachaobetipadhao. He said that he will retweet the best ones on his Twitter profile irrespective of language.

Soon after his request many people shared their selfies on Twitter praising their daughters like a flood. Now the ‘Selfie with daughter’ is not just a trend in India but also worldwide. Some people who don’t have daughters shared the photos of their sisters. Some even shared the photos of their mothers and nieces. Some used this opportunity to share and tweet about the women that inspired their lives.
