PM urges to conserve water

As country’s water levels including major reservoirs and river basins have fallen, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to conserve rainwater.

Yesterday in his radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the PM said it is essential to conserve every single drop water to prevent water crisis.

The PM added that there is no single formula to deal with water crisis in the country. There are different ways in different parts of the country. Yet, the goal of conserving the water will remain the same.

PM also urged people to share information on traditional ways of water conservation. He asked to share the details of individuals and NGOs that are working on water conservation.

Many areas in the country are facing water crisis due to a decrease in the water levels in dams and other water bodies.

As water scarcity is affecting the country, it is essential to save and conserve water to avoid severe water crisis in future.

Only 8 per cent of rainwater is being harvested across the country. Now it is a time to find out a solution to the water problem.

PM Modi said that knowing the importance of water, a new Jalashakti ministry has been created. The ministry would take faster decisions related to water problems.

This is the first public address in the second edition of PM’s radio show.

PM suspended his radio show on February 24, days before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections.

He said he experienced a sense of emptiness when he could not hold his radio programme Mann Ki Baat.

He added that he was confident about his return with the programme.
