Cabinet portfolios announced in Modi government

57 ministers along with the Prime Minister took the oath of office on Thursday. Yesterday portfolios have been allocated to the ministers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding the Ministry of Personnel, Department of Atomic Energy, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Space and all important policy issues, and any other portfolio has not been allocated by to any other minister.

Amit Shah will be the Minister of Home Affairs and Rajnath Singh would the Minister of Defence.

Former Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman would be the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs.


Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will be the new Minister of External Affairs. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was handed over HRD.

Nitin Jairam Gadkari would be the Minister of Road Transport and Highways and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has been handed over to D V Sadananda Gowda.

Ramvilas Paswan would be the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Narendra Singh Tomar is the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister. He is also holding the charge of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj ministries.

As usual Ravi Shankar Prasad continues as the Minister of Law and Justice, Communications, and Electronics and Information Technology.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal is holding the charge of Food Processing Industries. Arjun Munda would be the Minister of Tribal Affairs.

Thaawar Chand Gehlot gets the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Smriti Zubin Irani would be the new Minister of Women and Child Development, and Minister of Textiles.

Dr Harsh Vardhan gets the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Science and Technology; and Earth Sciences.

Piyush Goyal would be the Minister of Railways and the Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Prakash Javadekar is the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will be the Minister of Minority Affairs. Dharmendra Pradhan continues as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Minister of Steel.

Pralhad Joshi gets the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, and Ministry of Coal; and Mines.

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has been allocated to Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey.

Arvind Ganpat Sawant has been allocated the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprise.
