New traffic rules in India
Are you giving way to an ambulance when you get across it? If not, beware, you have to pay a fine of ₹10,000 as per the new traffic rules. The rules are not just limited to giving way to the ambulance, but for all emergency vehicles. There are many such rules in the Motor Vehicle Act 2021.
The Motor Vehicle Act 2021 is an amendment of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. The new act provides authority for charging hefty fines from vehicle drivers for violating rules. As per these new rules, a valid driving license is a must for all vehicle drivers. Similarly, all vehicles should have a registration, or else they are considered illegal.
Some of these rules are as follows:
- If you drive dangerously or unlicensed or drive at high speed, you have to pay a fine of ₹5,000.
- If you drive even though you are disqualified or drink and drive or drive without a permit, you have to pay ₹10,000.
- While driving without insurance will end up with a fine of ₹2,000, violation of license condition can lead to a hefty fine of ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh.
- While overloading on a two-wheeler attracts a fine of ₹2,000 along with the suspension of license for three months, overloading of passengers on other vehicles may cost ₹1,000 per passenger.
The Delhi police issued a notice on wearing a seat belt on the rear seat of the car. They said that this move would help improve the safety of passengers. They warn that violating the rule will end up paying a fine of up to ₹1,000.
The police are conducting a drive at present which will continue till January 23. Besides, they are also imposing fines on motorists for not having rearview mirrors on the two-wheelers.
Violating traffic rules will attract huge fines. So, follow them carefully for not just avoiding fine but for a safer journey.
