India highest in global consumer confidence
India has received top score in consumer confidence in an online survey released by American agency Nielsen.
India has received a score of 130 which was one point higher than the fourth quarter of 2014. India was followed by Indonesia with a score of 123 which was followed by Philippines with score of 115 and then came United Arab Emirates which also received score of 115.
The survey was conducted by Nielsen over February and March this year.
The survey stated that this year has started positively for global consumer confidence with an index score of 97.
At the end of last year, there was a dip where all regional confidence scores have reduced.
After the dip, it increased slightly or remained stable in all regions except Latin America.
The consumer confidence has increased in the Asia-pacific region by one point, posting the highest quarterly index score of 107 while North America remained steady at 106. Confidence in the Middle East and Africa region was 96 and in Europe it was 77 after an increase of one point each in the first quarter, but decreased two points in Latin America which scored 86.
The Nielsen Global Survey of Consumer Confidence and Spending Intentions was established in 2005 and it conducts surveys to measure consumer confidence, major concerns, and spending intentions among more than 30,000 respondents with Internet access in 60 countries.
