India is celebrating 74th Independence Day. Many security arrangements are made mandatory at Red Fort. Besides, social distancing norms are in place as per COVID-19 protocols.

NSG snipers, SWAT commandos and kite catchers will be deployed around the Red Fort as PM Modi will address the nation from the place.

In addition to that, nearly 4,000 security personnel will be placed here in adherence to social distancing norms.

More than 300 cameras have been installed as part of security arrangements. The social distancing between seats, following temperature checks and sanitization are some other measures. Hand sanitizers and face masks are kept ready for the guests.


The Members of the Guard of Honour have been under quarantine to be safe from COVID-19.

To avoid queues, orderly entry and dispersal will be followed. Around 4,000 guests have been invited and they will enter the venue through invitation.

Invitees are advised to refrain from attending the event if they have any COVID-19 symptoms in the last weeks. Besides, all invitees should follow COVID-19 guidelines in the celebrations. They have been issued an advisory on guidelines.

Parking spaces have been brick-lined to make sure smooth entry and exit of vehicles.

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory to the Delhiites. Eight roads will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. today. These are, Netaji Subhash Marg, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Lothian Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT and Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP flyover.

Flying of aircraft, movement of paragliders etc. have been prohibited. Besides, flights have been restricted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, scheduled flights will operate according to their schedule.

Four medical booths will be set up to serve the needs of the guests if they have detected with Covid-19 symptoms at the entry. Ambulances will also be kept at four places.
