Ram temple tightens security as donation theft probe expands
Security measures at the Ram Temple have been significantly strengthened as investigators widen the alleged donation embezzlement probe.
The investigation has expanded beyond the eight arrests made so far. Officials are now examining the roles of everyone involved in the temple’s daily operations.
According to police sources, nearly 50 people handled the counting of cash donations. They were reportedly recruited through recommendations from trust office-bearers and individuals associated with the temple administration.
Meanwhile, authorities have tightened security around the temple’s donation counting room.
Alongside personnel from the CRPF, police and other government agencies, private security guards have also been deployed at strategic locations. These guards work in three shifts to maintain round-the-clock vigilance.
Soon after the alleged theft surfaced, the monthly honorarium for private security personnel increased from ₹16,000 to ₹18,000.
Reports attribute the hike to a directive issued by the Uttar Pradesh government. Earlier, the deployment of private security personnel had reportedly been requested by then-general secretary Champat Rai.
Furthermore, the number of private security personnel has risen from around 300 to nearly 350. They now work alongside government forces across multiple security layers within the temple complex.
The first security layer around the donation counting room is managed by SIS security personnel and police officers.
They also guard the temple gates, the Parikrama, Sugriva Fort and the inner perimeter. Meanwhile, BPH security personnel oversee the Pilgrim Service Centre and the outer security ring.
Additionally, authorities have introduced stricter screening procedures at all security checkpoints.
Every individual entering or leaving these areas must now undergo mandatory security checks.
Officials have also intensified surveillance throughout the temple premises to ensure closer monitoring of movement and strengthen protection during the ongoing investigation.
