DCP Sachin Gore, who busted Thane’s major egg donation racket

Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Gore gained recognition for spearheading the investigation that uncovered one of Maharashtra’s largest illegal egg donation rackets, exposing an organised network involved in exploiting vulnerable women through unlawful fertility practices.

His methodical approach helped unravel a network that allegedly exploited vulnerable women through forged documents and repeated illegal egg donations.

Gore supervised the investigation from its early stages, ensuring the probe moved beyond the initial complaint to uncover the larger conspiracy.

Under his leadership, police arrested seven accused, including alleged agents, an IVF centre owner, a medical injection supplier, and a man accused of creating forged identity documents.

During the investigation, Gore revealed that forged documents were allegedly used to allow women to donate eggs multiple times under different identities.

He stated that such practices violated existing regulations, which permit egg donation only once in a woman’s lifetime and only under prescribed conditions.

The investigation also uncovered that at least 25 women had allegedly undergone illegal egg donation procedures over nearly three years.

Police found that some women had donated eggs more than 20 times, exposing them to serious health risks.

Gore also indicated that investigators suspected the racket extended beyond Maharashtra, prompting a wider probe into possible interstate links.

One of the major breakthroughs came with the arrest of the alleged document provider, which helped investigators understand how the accused bypassed legal safeguards.

The probe also led to action against an IVF centre linked to the case, with authorities later sealing the facility and ordering a separate inquiry.

Known for his evidence-based investigations, DCP Sachin Gore’s handling of the case demonstrated the importance of thorough policing in dismantling organised medical fraud.

His leadership ensured that what began as a complaint over unpaid compensation evolved into a comprehensive investigation that exposed the exploitation of vulnerable women and brought the alleged network to light.
