FNG Expressway set to transform NCR commutes
Infrastructure upgrades continue to shape daily travel across the National Capital Region with renewed focus on faster intercity connectivity.
Good news has emerged for commuters travelling between Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad who regularly struggle with traffic congestion.
Reports suggest the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad, or FNG Expressway, will gain momentum in the coming year.
Once completed, the expressway is expected to benefit nearly 50,000 daily commuters across these fast-growing urban centres.
Currently, many office-goers spend close to two hours commuting, especially when relying on metro services during peak hours.
However, the FNG Expressway promises to cut travel time to just minutes between key locations.
As a result, traffic pressure on existing arterial roads and public transport systems will reduce significantly.
Importantly, the Nawab Singh Saini-led Haryana government has included the FNG Expressway among its flagship infrastructure initiatives.
The Public Works Department has already submitted three proposed alignments for government consideration.
According to the proposal, a 600-meter-long bridge will be constructed over the Yamuna River near Lalpur village.
Additionally, planners have proposed a nine-kilometre road passing through Rivazpur and Tikawali villages.
This stretch will connect areas near a private hospital located in Sector 87, improving local accessibility.
Meanwhile, the project previously faced long delays at the Chief Minister’s Office.
In fact, the project file remained pending for nearly two years due to administrative and financial hurdles.
Several high-level meetings were conducted, yet progress stalled because budget approval was not granted earlier.
The government had sought an allocation of nearly ₹900 crore to execute the project efficiently.
Now, authorities have finally granted approval for the full budgeted amount.
Therefore, officials believe timely fund release can accelerate project implementation.
Experts suggest construction work may begin as early as the new year if approvals move smoothly.
Overall, the FNG Expressway is expected to redefine daily commuting and support long-term urban growth across the NCR.
