Dwarka Expressway sets to revolutionize Delhi-Gurugram commute
In a significant stride toward enhancing urban connectivity, the much-anticipated Dwarka Expressway emerges as a game-changer for commuters between Delhi and Gurugram.
Spanning 28.5 km, this state-of-the-art expressway promises to streamline the daily transit from Delhi-Gurugram, marking it as India’s first elevated road project of its kind.
Commencing from Shiv-Murti near Mahipalpur on NH 8, the expressway stretches to the Kherki Daula toll plaza.
It is poised to significantly cut down travel time, transforming the journey from Delhi to Manesar into a swift 15-minute ride.
Notably, the 19-km segment from the Delhi-Gurgaon border to Kherki Daula in Haryana is gearing up to welcome traffic by the first week of March.
Meanwhile, the expressway’s remaining 9.5 km within Delhi is on track for completion by June.
It aligns its inauguration with the period preceding the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Constructed at a cost of ₹9,000 crores, the 34-meter wide expressway is envisioned as an 8-lane grade-separated marvel.
Also referred to as the Northern Peripheral Road, it connects Shiv Murti on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to Dwarka in Delhi, extending to Gurgaon in Haryana.
A highlight of this project is the inclusion of the country’s longest and widest urban road tunnel, spanning 3.6 km with eight lanes, ensuring an unimpeded flow of traffic.
Designed to be access-controlled, the expressway integrates four multi-level interchanges and cross-road underpasses at crucial junctions, effectively eliminating bottlenecks and enhancing traffic management.
The initiation of construction work in 2018 marked the beginning of this ambitious project, aiming to deliver a congestion-free and efficient commuting experience.
As the Dwarka Expressway nears its operational phase, it stands as a testament to advanced infrastructure planning, poised to redefine urban travel dynamics between Delhi and Gurugram.
This expressway is not just a route but a leap towards futuristic urban mobility, setting a benchmark for similar projects nationwide.
