Getting Hiccups can be very annoying and embarrassing in public. Sometimes, it seems like they never stop. Many people try a lot of tricks to stop them but they end in vain. Here are some tips to stop hiccups easily.

Massaging the roof of your mouth

Use a cotton ball and slowly massage the roof of your mouth. Start at the opening of mouth and slowly extend it towards back of your throat to create a gag reflex. The gag reflex will help stop hiccups immediately.

Peanut Butter


Peanut butter is helpful in stimulating the vagus nerve directly which helps in stopping hiccups directly. Use peanut butter when you get hiccups. Peanut butter is also very nutritious.

Spoonful of sugar

Eating a spoonful of sugar is one of the easiest and best natural methods to get rid of hiccups. Have a teaspoon of sugar, chew it a little and then swallow it to get rid of hiccups fast.

Fingers in your ears

Put your fingers in each ear simultaneously and keep it inside for five minutes. Push your finger inside your ear slightly but don’t push it too hard as it might damage your ear.

Gargle water

Gargle water or drink it in order to interrupt the nerves causing hiccups.
