Prediabetes refers to a condition where blood glucose levels are elevated from the normal range, but not much to be diagnosed with diabetes.

This stage show that a person has a risk of getting diabetes in future.

Diabetes, especially Type 2 diabetes is a progressive condition which occurs gradually with time. You can prolong it by following certain preventive measures or precautions.

Normally, many people are not aware about their diabetes until they are diagnosed with it.

However, precautions taken in your lifestyle can help postpone diabetes.

There are some conditions that trigger prediabetes.

If you have a sedentary lifestyle, are overweight, are over 45 years of age, have a BMI higher than 25, have excess fat around your waist, polycystic ovarian syndrome, eat too much processed food and hereditary are some risk factors for diabetes.

• Limit alcohol intake
• Control blood pressure and cholesterol levels
• Consume high fiber diet
• Add more fruits and vegetable to your diet
• Drink enough water
• Stay away from soft drinks and avoid refined carbohydrates
• Consume plant based protein and fish
• Take food in smaller portions with frequent intervals
• Opt for healthy snacks like nuts and salads
• Change cooking style, eat boiled or steamed foods and stay away from deep fried items
• Be active and follow a healthy lifestyle
• Get enough sleep
• Eat the foods that have a low glycemic food
