Health benefits of Jeera Water

Jaggery is a natural sweetener widely used in Indian cuisine for its health benefits and taste. It is a healthy alternative for sugar.

Jaggery is normally made from sugarcane and sometimes from palm date.

Jaggery is rich in iron and other minerals like potassium, magnesium, calcium, selenium, zinc etc.

Jaggery has many health benefits:


  • Jaggery promotes haemoglobin and purifies blood.
  • It is an excellent detoxifier and cleanses the stomach, intestines, lungs, respiratory tract, and food pipe.
  • It boosts immunity. The antioxidants help prevent free-radicals.
  • Being a diuretic, it helps stimulate urination.
  • It aids in digestion by stimulating digestive enzymes.
  • It improves metabolism by promoting the absorption of essential nutrients from food.
  • It helps in weight loss and helps lower water retention. Thus, it helps manage weight.
  • It eases menstrual pain. It releases endorphins and relieves the body from the symptoms of PMS.

Like all other food items, consume jaggery in a moderate amount. Do not consume more than 2 teaspoons of jaggery to avoid weight gain.

The procedure of Lemon jaggery water:

Heat one glass of water. Add one teaspoon of lemon juice and a small piece of jaggery to the water. Mix thoroughly and drink.

Jaggery tea improves metabolism and digestion.

The procedure of Jaggery tea:

Boil a cup of water in a vessel and add tea leaves, cardamom and crushed peppercorns to it. Boil for some time. Then add ½ cup milk and boil it for a few minutes. Add jaggery in a cup and strain the tea. Stir it well and drink.
