Do not eat these foods on an empty stomach
People eat whatever they find when they are extremely hungry. Also, many people start their day with caffeinated drinks or raw vegetables. However, it is not good in real terms. Certain foods may cause gastric problems and other related issues when you eat them on an empty stomach.
Below is a list of foods that you should not on an empty stomach:
- Though raw vegetables are good for health, avoid eating them on an empty stomach as they may cause stomach pain, heartburn etc. Especially fibrous vegetables can cause gas and stomach bloating.
- Similarly, spicy foods are not good for the stomach to be eaten early in the morning. They can trigger indigestion and also lead to stomach cramps and acidic reactions.
- Caffeinated drinks like coffee or tea may increase the risk of acidity. It can also lead to other digestive issues.
- Consumption of fermented milk products like yoghurt can also lead to acid reflux.
- Citrus fruits, if eaten on an empty stomach, may increase the risk of gastric ulcers. They can cause heartburn and gastritis. However, you can eat a single banana or a piece of apple in the morning.
- Eating sweets on an empty stomach may slow the function of the pancreas and thereby the insulin levels in the body. It may lead to diabetes in the long run.
- Carbonated drinks may damage mucous membranes and hinder the absorption process in the body.
So, what are the ideal foods to be eaten on an empty stomach?
Here is a list:
- Start your day by drinking lukewarm water with honey and lemon. It improves your digestion, blood circulation. Besides, it controls your weight.
- Consumption of nuts in the morning helps regularize the pH levels in the body and improve your digestion.
- Eggs provide protein content to the body and reduce the intake of carbohydrates.
- Oatmeal, honey, wholegrain cereals are some ideal food items to be consumed on an empty stomach.
