Things to know about Post Office ATM cards
Post Office or India Post offers different types of saving schemes. Customers can open various types of accounts in the post office like a savings account, Recurring Deposit (RD) account, Public Provident Fund (PPF) account, Monthly Income Scheme (MIS) account, and fixed deposit account.
They can also open Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for a girl child and senior citizen savings scheme (SCSS) for senior citizens.
Customers of savings account at Post Office is offered 4 per cent interest according to the website.
Post Office offers ATM cards for their savings account with prescribed withdrawal limits and transactional charges.
Here are some important things to know about Post Office ATM cards:
- The daily withdrawal limit of a Post Office ATM card is ₹25,000.
- One can withdraw a maximum of ₹10,000 in a single transaction through Post Office ATM.
- Customers can withdraw at all Post Office ATMs free of cost. In addition to that, free transactions are offered at all Punjab National Bank ATMs.
- Only three transactions are free in a month for the customers to withdraw at other bank ATMs in metro cities using the debit card. Five free transactions are allowed in other cities per month.
- Free transactions include both financial transactions like cash withdrawal and non-financial transactions like balance enquiry.
- If the customers exceed the limit at other bank ATMs, then they will have to pay specific charges prescribed by India Post.
- If any customer exceeds the prescribed number of free transactions at other bank ATMs, then they will be charged ₹20 plus applicable GST (Goods and Services Tax) per financial transaction.
- If any customer exceeds the prescribed number of free transactions at other bank ATMs, then they will be charged at ₹8 plus applicable GST for a non-financial transaction.
