Link your Aadhar card with PAN
If you are filing income tax returns, then you will have to link your Aadhar card with Permanent Account Number (PAN).
The Income Tax Department has launched a new facility to link one’s Aadhar with his / her PAN. Now, it is mandatory to file income tax returns.
In order to monitor the tax evasion, money laundering etc., the IT department made it mandatory for linking Aadhar card with PAN.
You have to link both your Aadhar card and PAN by July 31 to file your returns.
If anybody does not link his / her Aadhar and PAN he or she will lose access to PAN card after December 31, 2017.
Those who apply for PAN card after July 31, 2017 should also mention their Aadhar card while applying.
As per the Finance Act 2017, it is compulsory for taxpayers to quote Aadhaar or enrolment ID of Aadhaar application form while filing IT returns.
It is made mandatory to check corruption in the country and put stop to the money laundering.
It will be easier for the government to track all the activities of an individual or a business entity so that the government can minimize tax evasion.
It is very simple to link both the identity proofs a person using the link on the income tax filing website home page.
A person should enter both his Aadhar number and PAN number in the specified columns and the name should match.
Suppose if there is a minor change in the Aadhaar card, then Aadhaar OTP will be required. It is sent to the registered mobile and email of the person.
Even the date of birth and gender in both cards should match so that they will be linked without any problem.
So far, more than 1.18 crore Aadhaar numbers are updated with their PAN database.
