Aadhaar linkage now mandatory for key services

In India’s push for digital governance, linking Aadhaar with essential services has become mandatory.

The government has tightened the rules and now requires Aadhaar to be linked with multiple services to ensure continued access to benefits and subsidies.

You must now link your Aadhaar with:

  • Bank Account
  • PAN Card
  • Gas Connection
  • Ration Card
  • PF Account

If not linked, you may lose access to subsidies and government schemes. For example, gas subsidies and food ration benefits could stop.

To link Aadhaar with your bank account, visit your bank branch. Carry your Aadhaar, address proof, and passbook copy. Fill out the Aadhaar seeding form and submit it.

For PAN card linking, visit the Income Tax e-filing website. Enter your Aadhaar and PAN details. Validate using OTP. Once done, your Aadhaar will be linked with your PAN.

To link Aadhaar with your ration card or LPG connection, use the Aadhaar FaceRD app.

It enables e-KYC using facial recognition. You can also check your Aadhaar e-KYC status through the same method.

In a related update, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has requested parents to update the Aadhaar biometrics of children who have turned seven years old.

Children who are enrolled under the age of five only provide a photo, name, and basic details.

However, fingerprint and iris scans become mandatory once the child turns seven.

UIDAI has begun sending SMS alerts to registered mobile numbers of such children.

Parents or guardians should visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or authorised enrollment centre to complete the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU).

Without this update, the child’s Aadhaar may become inactive. This could affect access to educational schemes or health benefits in the future.

Staying compliant ensures you continue receiving benefits and avoid disruptions.

Link Aadhaar today and stay connected with critical services worth thousands of rupees every year.
