BSNL Launches Mobile Wallet | Fusion - WeRIndia

BSNL, the State-run operator has launched a pre-paid card combined with a mobile wallet service on July 4.

The service will permit its customers to transfer cash, buy services as well as withdraw money of up to Rs 1 lakh. Speed Pay, the wallet service can be used by a client to load cash even with the lack of a bank account.

Money can be loaded in the wall and it is transferred to a bank account and even withdrawn at bank branches or at BSNL outlets. The wallet service was launched by Telecommunication Minister by Ravi Shankar Prasad.

He stated that the money within the mobile wallet can be transferred from mobile phone to a bank account. When needed, it can be withdrawn at bank branches or at BSNL outlet, he said. BSNL has launched the service in partnership with IT company Pyro. If cash from wallet is transferred by an individual to different bank accounts or in case of money withdrawal, there is one per cent transaction charge.

Pyro has partnered with money transfer technology firm Visa that allows Speed Pay card holder to get goods both offline and on-line, like a debit card, where Visa based transactions are accepted.

The Speed Pay card service by BSNL will be launched in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu by the end of September, he said. BSNL conjointly launched entertainment service BSNL Buzz in partnership with Celltick. Under this service, BSNL customer using the feature on smartphone can subscribe to various contents like news, jokes, contest etc. for Rs 10 per month.
