BSNL rolls out Independence Day offers
BSNL is marking India’s 80th Independence Day with cheaper connections and extended-value plans for mobile and broadband users.
Under its ‘Freedom 2.0’ offer, new BSNL SIM cards will cost just ₹1 from August 12 to September 12.
The new connection includes unlimited voice calls, 1 GB of daily data and 100 SMS each day. The benefits will remain active for 24 days.
BSNL has also introduced a ₹2,399 mobile plan with a validity of 412 days.
Users will receive unlimited calls, 2 GB of daily data and 100 SMS per day throughout the period.
The offers come as BSNL continues to expand its network in Dakshina Kannada Telecom District.
The operator has more than 4.75 lakh mobile customers in the region. Together, they consume around 42 TB of data every day.
Nearly 700 mobile towers are currently operating across the district. In addition, BSNL has installed 89 new 4G base stations in remote villages.
These areas previously had little or no coverage from private telecom operators.
The company is deploying an indigenously developed 4G technology under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Around 60% of the district’s 4G rollout is complete.
BSNL plans to introduce 5G services after completing the 4G infrastructure.
BSNL has also announced a promotional offer for new fibre broadband customers. New connections will receive the first month of service free. Customers will then get a ₹100 monthly discount for the following three months.
They will pay ₹399 per month during this period. From the fifth month, the regular ₹499 monthly tariff will apply.
Meanwhile, BSNL is replacing older copper connections with fibre optic cables. The company also plans to address network problems in Sullia and other rural areas.
Officials said the concerns would be taken up with MESCOM for resolution.
The combined offers highlight BSNL’s focus on affordable connectivity while expanding its indigenous 4G network across underserved areas.
