Aadhaar updates made easy: Big changes from November 1
Managing your Aadhaar is about to get simpler and faster. Starting November 1, 2025, cardholders can update their Aadhaar details online without visiting enrolment centres.
This major change aims to save time, enhance security, and make the system more user-friendly.
Previously, any correction or update, like changing your name, address, or mobile number, required a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Now, the entire process will move online. The submitted details will be automatically verified with official government databases such as PAN, passport, driving licence, or ration card.
This will make updates more secure and quicker to process.
The new fee structure is straightforward. Updating name, address, or mobile number will cost ₹75, while changes in fingerprints, iris scan, or photograph will cost ₹125.
Biometric updates for children aged 5-7 years and 15-17 years will remain free.
Online document updates are also free until June 14, 2026, after which they will cost ₹75 at an enrolment centre.
Additionally, Aadhaar reprints will cost ₹40. For home enrolment services, the fee will be ₹700 for the first person and ₹350 for each additional person at the same address.
Another major update is the Aadhaar-PAN linking requirement. Every PAN holder must link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025.
Failing to do so will deactivate the PAN from January 1, 2026, making it unusable for financial or tax purposes.
New PAN card applicants must also complete Aadhaar verification during the process.
The Know Your Customer (KYC) process is also being simplified. Users can now complete KYC through Aadhaar OTP verification, video KYC, or face-to-face verification.
This ensures a paperless and time-efficient experience for banks and financial institutions.
These changes promise to make Aadhaar management smoother and more secure.
Citizens will gain convenience and speed, while the system maintains strict data safety.
However, missing the Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline could lead to major financial issues. Therefore, linking them early is essential.
According to UIDAI, these reforms mark a big step toward a seamless and secure digital identity system in India.
