Doordarshan invites entries for New Logo

Doordarshan invites entries for creating new logos from people. It announced that the age-old logo will be changed to identify with this new and young generation.
The blue oval shapes resembling human eye and in the inner circle ‘Doordarshan’ is a well-known logo.
Doordarshan was setup by the Government of India under Broadcasting Ministry of India. It is a division of Prasar Bharti and is available in 140 countries. Doordarshan operates 21 channels. These channels include both national and regional in addition to sports channel. DD reaches about 22 million homes.
The logo has been with Doordarshan for 58 years since 1959. Though, the logo was identified with the old generation, the young generation is not interested in it.
Many young people do not watch Doordarshan at all. With the aim reach to major audience of the country especially the youth below age of 30 years, Doordarshan wants to change its old logo.
India has currently youth as its major population. But, the youngsters do not associate with Doordarshan as their earlier generations do. There are many channels in the county.
In order to change the focus of youth and grab the attention towards DD, they want to change their brand.
In this regards, applications are invited. Anybody that can design a new logo with the ability to recollect strong nostalgia connected to DD brand can send their applications.

The last date to submit the new logo is August 14. ₹ 1 lakh cash prize will be awarded to the winner.
