‘Chashme Budoor’ to air in Doordarshan in honour of Farooque Shaikh
On January 2, 2015, at 10:00 pm, the national channel Doordarshan will air the classic film Chashme Budoor by Farooque Shaikh. This is in honour of Shaik. Recently India was certified polio-free.
UNICEF has stated that a part of the credit goes to Shaik who went beyond his role of brand ambassador. He travelled regularly to remote corners of Uttar Pradesh in the name of honorary work for UNICEF’s anti-polio campaign.
He did not even allow UNICEF to pay for his travel, lodging, or boarding. He was one of the champion contributors to India’s fight against polio.
Due to this, Doordarshan will be airing Shaik’s Chashme Budoor in his honour. His first Smriti Din was observed on Sunday, December 28.
The DD cluster of channels generally tends to circulate the same film between DD Urdu, DD India, and DD Lok Sabha. So there are chances of repeats over the weekend slot. Generally, DD Urdu airs the same film at 2:00 pm and again on Sunday, so there is a chance that Chasme Budoor might be repeated too.
On December 29th DD national has aired ‘Katha’ in the afternoon and his telefilm ‘Hindola’ in a late-night slot. Last weekend private channels aired ‘Youngistaan’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘ and ‘Toofan’. One the first day of 2015, Noorie was aired.
