Do Good morning messages on WhatsApp contain phishing codes? | Fusion - WeRIndia

It is quite common for WhatsApp users to share good morning and good night messages with their friends and relatives.

But, recently, a message is being shared on WhatsApp stating that the messages especially videos have phishing codes inside them as they are designed by the hackers in China.

It also states that hackers use your phone to steal your personal as well as financial information and other crucial data. It added that more than 5 lakh people became victims of this fraud.

As per the message, certain phone numbers are used for phishing, hence to be careful with them.

The message warns not to share these messages from now on, how beautiful and good they seem to be to protect yourself and your acquaintances for not being prey to this fraud.

But, it is real? As per Newsmeter and Latestly, this message is fake. Latestly says that the message is misleading the readers. There is no credible information that China is behind these messages to harm the users or breach their privacy.

Newsmeter says that this message has many grammatical errors to understand the meaning. Besides, there is no evidence that such reported phishing has happened in any country.

Though this message recently has gone viral in India, this is not a new message. Newsmeter also says that it has been making rounds since 2017 which was found in their Google Search.

In addition to that, malware or phishing URLs can be attached to any image, but not just to the good morning or good night messages. Hence, this message is not real, but a hoax.
