Mental health cases increase in India after COVID-19 outbreak
While the entire world is under the scare of COVID-19, some people are suffering from mental ailments.
The scare of disease and the panic condition created due to it, are trembling people. They are suffering from anxiety and depression.
Some others who are addicted to smoking and alcohol are suffering from withdrawal symptoms due to the non-availability of these products due to lockdown.
As per the survey of Indian Psychiatry Society, the number of cases of mental illness has risen. There is a 20 per cent rise in these cases after the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.
The survey reveals that one in every five Indians is suffering from mental ailments. It also says the increase in mental ailments has been seen in just one week and COVID-19 is the reason behind it.
Meanwhile, people who are addicted to cigarettes and alcohol are suffering from mental illnesses as well. They could not stock the products; hence, they are suffering from withdrawal symptoms.
They cannot be taken to rehabilitation centres, nor are they able to attend therapy sessions. The medicines to cope with withdrawal are also difficult to obtain in the present situation.
In this scenario, if you are feeling distressed either due to the scare of COVID-19 or due to your addiction, there are certain health intuitions to guide you as per your situation.
