Gatimaan Express to be launched from today

Gatimaan Express, the fastest train of India is all set to be launched today. The train is branded as the India’s inaugural semi-bullet train. The fastest train of India would go to and fro from New Delhi to Agra.

The train would be starting from 10 AM today. It is being flagged off by the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu from the Hazrat Nizamuddin Station in Delhi. The train was in the process of launching since the past 15 months. Four trials runs have been conducted for the train to check its fitness for traveling before its journey. Finally, the train is going to run on tracks today. Extreme safety standards are assured by the Railway Ministry for this train.

The speed of Gatimaan Express is 160 km/hr. If it goes at the specified speed, the train will be the fastest train in India. Yet, the speed of the train did not exceed 151 km/hr. during trials which is slightly more than the speed of Shatabdi Exprerss that runs at 150 km/hr.

Gatimaan Express consists of 12 AC coaches and a hostess will address the passengers. Though it is multi-coloured externally, the interiors of the coaches have various wall-covers of appealing sceneries.

The train has catering services from IRCTC which provides quality food that is prepared with utmost hygiene. WiFi and television service are provided in the train by MyFreeTv.in which acquired the contract from the Railways to do so. Passengers can select guide-packages.

Gatimaan Express in its first journey, will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 10 AM and reach Agra Agra Cantt station at 11:40 AM. The journey will be completed in 100 minutes. From tomorrow onwards, the departure of train will be at 8:10 AM in Delhi and will reach Agra at 9:50 AM. The train will ply on all days except Fridays on which Taj Mahal also shuts down. The fare in this is Rs.690 and for executive seats it will be Rs.1,395.
