In a heartwarming display of bravery, a 13-year-old schoolgirl from Mangaluru, Karnataka, has been lauded for her quick actions that saved her mother after a tragic accident involving an autorickshaw.

The incident occurred when Chethana, a 40-year-old resident of Rajaratnapura, was hit by a speeding autorickshaw on Friday.

Her daughter, Vaibhavi, a Class 7 student at St. Mary’s Central School in Kinnigoli, witnessed the entire ordeal and sprang into action to rescue her.

The accident took place on the Kinnigoli-Kateel Road in Ramanagara, where Chethana was crossing the road to meet her daughter.

The autorickshaw, which was trying to avoid hitting her, swerved out of control and toppled, pinning Chethana underneath.

A nearby CCTV camera captured the shocking incident, and the footage later went viral on social media.

Without wasting a moment, Vaibhavi rushed to her mother’s aid. With the help of the autorickshaw driver and a passenger, the young girl managed to lift the overturned vehicle and pull her mother to safety.

This swift and courageous act has earned Vaibhavi widespread admiration, including praise from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The Chief Minister took to the social media platform X to commend Vaibhavi’s bravery. He criticized the growing trend of bystanders recording accidents rather than helping the victims.

The CM emphasised that every second is precious in such situations. He praised Vaibhavi for embodying the spirit of humanity and setting a positive example for society.

Chethana, who works as a bank deposit collection agent, is currently recovering from her injuries in the hospital. The autorickshaw driver and the passenger were also injured in the accident.

Mangaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) confirmed that a dangerous driving case has been registered against the autorickshaw driver.

He also praised Vaibhavi for her presence of mind and decisive actions, stating that her quick thinking played a crucial role in saving her mother’s life.

This inspiring story of a daughter’s bravery has touched the hearts of many, serving as a reminder of the importance of timely intervention during accidents.
