When silence builds a stronger voice

Life does not always announce its challenges gently. Sometimes, it begins by demanding courage before strength is even understood.

Dhwani Pravinbhai Patel’s journey stands as a powerful reminder that resilience can grow quietly and still transform lives.

Born in Ahmedabad in 1990, Dhwani entered the world with profound hearing and speech disabilities. Within days of her birth, severe jaundice threatened her survival.

Two emergency blood transfusions saved her life, but the damage left her completely deaf and mute. Her balance weakened, and silence became her lifelong companion.

Her parents refused to accept limitation as destiny. Her father, an electrician, and her mother, a homemaker, invested their lives in her progress.

Through physiotherapy, Dhwani learned basic movement. Speech therapy and constant home training helped her communicate and gain confidence. Their belief became her foundation.

Dhwani studied in a regular school up to Class 10 and later joined a Diploma course in Computer Studies at Gulls Polytechnic.

However, social insensitivity soon overshadowed learning. Ridicule and isolation replaced support. Eventually, emotional pressure forced her to discontinue formal education, though her curiosity remained alive.

A small neighbourhood computer class became her turning point. In that safe space, Dhwani mastered Paint, MS Office, DTP, typing, and basic design software. Her dedication spoke clearly.

By 2015, she was trusted with responsibilities and became an assistant, handling administrative and bank-related work.

Creativity soon became her second language. Dhwani began crafting photo frames, paper quilling art, gift packaging, and Aarti decorations.

Each piece reflected patience, discipline, and pride. Despite facing public mockery even today, she chooses purpose over anger.

Her efforts have received wide recognition. She earned the Guardian Angel Award in 2015. In 2018, she won First Prize in a Best Garba competition, competing alongside Divyang and non-Divyang participants.

Her pandemic service was honoured in 2021 with the Corona Appreciation Award, followed by the Diya International Winner Award. In 2025, she received recognition at a State-level Painting Competition and won First Prize in Aarti Decoration.

Dhwani continues to volunteer for social causes, from disability awareness and women’s empowerment rallies to environmental drives and community service events.

Her dream remains rooted in service. She aims to grow in computers and support people with disabilities.

Dhwani Patel’s life proves that strength does not need sound. Determination, when nurtured with purpose, becomes a voice that no silence can suppress.
