Colours beyond limits: Jay Gangadia’s inspiring journey

Strength often reveals itself in unexpected ways, and sometimes, it speaks through art rather than words. Jay Gangadia from Ahmedabad embodies this truth with remarkable clarity.

Born with severe health complications, Jay was diagnosed early with cerebral palsy. His condition limited movement, balance, and speech.

However, his inner world remained vibrant and expressive. Adopted by Mahesh Gangadia and his late wife, he faced challenges from the very beginning. Yet, instead of giving in, his family chose resilience and constant support.

Over time, Jay discovered painting, which changed everything. What began quietly soon turned into a powerful form of expression. In the last seven years, he has created over 500 paintings.

Moreover, each artwork reflects his emotions, struggles, and silent strength. His canvases became his voice, and his colours told stories words could not.

His work has reached notable figures, including Amit Shah, Bhupendrabhai Patel, Acharya Devvrat, and Harsh Sanghvi. Each recognition added momentum to his growing journey.

A deeply emotional chapter unfolded in 2019 when he lost his mother. Consequently, he expressed his grief through a painting titled “Miss You Mom,” inspired by poetry from Narendra Modi.

The artwork earned him the Best Painting award, capturing raw emotion and love.

Despite personal loss, Jay continued to rise. His father became his constant pillar, supporting both his daily needs and artistic pursuits. As a result, Jay’s journey reflects not limitation, but determination.

A defining milestone came when Droupadi Murmu honoured him with the Shreshtha Divyangjan Award in 2023.

In addition, he has received titles like Shining Star of the Art World and the National Icon Award 2025. Even small moments, such as a mid-air celebration by Air India, highlight how widely his story resonates.

Beyond achievements, Jay’s compassion stands out. During the COVID-19 crisis, he donated ₹5,100 from his art earnings.

Still, he holds a simple dream, to meet the Prime Minister and gift him a painting.

Jay Gangadia may face physical limits, yet his art travels endlessly, inspiring far beyond boundaries.
