Ananya Saluja at an age where she herself is considered very young is helping children in remote villages of Leh, Ladakh. This 17 year old visits these villages every summer to help underprivileged children of the region.

She even raises funds to help these children. So far she raised ₹10 lakh for her cause.

The money she raised is enough for building 17 libraries!

Ananya started her noble cause when she was just 15 years old. Since then, she has been to the mountain remote regions every year.

She began teaching underprivileged children and raised the money to build playgrounds and start libraries in Leh.

Ananya got the idea to start this cause when her school introduced a community service module in her curriculum in which her school students had to teach underprivileged children.

Doing that curriculum filled Ananya with a sense of fulfilment. After it ended, she took it upon herself to help more.

Talking about her experience, she says that the happiness in the face of the children after understanding a concept was worth it.

She did not want to stop that. So she sought ways on how to do it. At that time, she found out about 17,000 ft Foundation run by Sujata Sahu who was a former teacher in her school.

With their help, she learned about volunteering opportunities and went to Ladakh.

In 2015, she taught children in villages of Liktsey, Turtuk and Tialing, all in Leh district.

Again in 2016, she went to Matho in Leh district to set up a playground for children and also teach them.

This year summer, she will be going to Kargil to set up a library and conduct a workshop.

Ananya says that during her volunteering, she was the one who learned more than the children. She learned how many challenges these children have.
