Leading visually challenged people
Here is a story which proves that a person who wants to serve cannot be stopped. Somanath Gowdar proves that you do need to be a high profile person in society to help others in need. For the past one and half years, he has dedicated himself to social service.
Gowdar who hails from Sidlaguda Taluk, Chikkaballapur District is associated with ‘Youth For’ an NGO which serves visually challenged students and youngsters.
To date, Somanath has written over 10 exams for visually challenged people. He states that writing exams for visually challenged is very different from regular way of writing exams. The student dictates the answers and that answer should be put in words within time frame. This means that the writer should have basic idea on the topic he is writing, explains Somanath.
Somanath, who works for oneindia.in has sacrificed his professional leaves in order to write exams for others. Recently he has written psychology exam on for Basavaraj, a visually challenged student, held at M S Ramaiah College. He is set to write two more exams for the year.
Somanath says he is happy with what he is doing and that he is happy for Basavaraj who prepared well for the exam. He says he will be glad if Basavaraj gets through the exam successfully.
