Andhra Man creates awareness on energy conservation in school children

Energy conservation is one of the most essential things now. However, due to lack of awareness and negligence, several people do not focus on this issue.

As a result, power is being wasted. To save power and create awareness in school children, this Andhra man took a novel initiative.

Madhu Babu from Tirupati has been trying to create awareness on energy conservation in school children.

His Energy Conservation Mission of India has saved more than 6 million units of electricity since 2012 which is around ₹1.5 crores.

His another initiative along with his wife D Vijaya, Parents Association for Children with Special Needs (PAC) has been bringing a positive impact in specially-abled children for over 10 years.

Babu wanted to create awareness on power conservation when he realized that there was a need to do so as power cut issues were widespread in many parts of the country.

In his research, he found that none of the areas including Tier I cities from villages was exempt from power cuts.

The only difference was that the duration of power cuts was longer in villages like 12 hours, and around 4 hours in Tier 2 cities. And in metro cities, the duration of the power failure was nearly 1 hour.

Then, Babu realized the need to focus on this issue to save the country from further power cuts. He thought that if children are taught about power conservation, the next generation will be saved from this menace.

Since then, Babu has been trying to create awareness in school children on this issue.

He noticed that a national-level painting competition was being held by the government to create awareness on energy conservation among the citizens.

But, he was not impressed by the idea. He was a volunteer at the competition in the Tirupati region. He printed some cards with a series of essential energy-saving tips and handed over them to school children by explaining the concept.

This achieved good results and millions of units of electricity, as well as crores of money, was saved.
