India, home to over 40 substantial solar projects, is on a mission to achieve its 2032 renewable energy target, aiming for 40% to come from solar power.

Among these remarkable initiatives, the Bhadla Solar Power Plant stands as a shining example. It is the world’s largest solar power plant.

With a colossal capacity of 2.25 GW and over 10 million solar panels, it not only reigns as the largest solar plant in India but also globally, topping the charts of the world’s largest photovoltaic power stations.

Situated in the scorching landscape of Bhadla, in the tehsil of Phalodi, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan, the Bhadla Solar Park sprawls over 14,000 acres, or 5,700 hectares.

Its name, Bhadla, derives from its location—a region renowned for its solar-friendly high temperatures, with mercury often soaring between 46 to 48 degrees Celsius.

Harnessing this relentless sunlight, the plant not only powers itself but also contributes to the energy needs of nearby areas.

Prior to Bhadla’s rise, China led the solar energy race with the Longyangxia Dam Solar Park.

However, India’s entry into the arena, though belated, has propelled it ahead of China in this renewable energy revolution.
