Some businesses rapidly grew during the lockdown. Edtech startups, startups offering nutritional snacks, medicines, apparel etc., are some of them. XYXX Apparels, a Surat-based startup, is one of them.

Men’s innerwear market doubled within five years in the country, from 2015 to 2020. Observing the potential in the market, Yogesh Kabra started XYXX Apparels in 2017 to offer premium quality apparel for men.

Yogesh pursued his MBA from Hult International Business School and worked with a US company. But, his dream was to become an entrepreneur by starting his own business. Then he returned to his hometown and began working in his father’s textile business.

However, he wanted to have his own business and in a novel way. When researched, Yogesh found that there were very few new brands for men’s undergarments. Besides, he realized that most of these products were not of fine quality. In addition to that, different brands of the same fabric and stitching were selling for different prices as per their brand reputation. Then, he thought of bringing his own brand into this sector.

After thorough research, Yogesh launched his startup, XYXX Apparels, with an investment of ₹50 lakhs. XYXX Apparels sells innerwear and loungewear, including boxers, briefs, underwear, trunks, vests, T-shirts, shorts, lounge pants, and pyjamas.

They offer different types of fabric, like Tencel Modal, Bamboo Cotton, COMBED Cotton and Organic Cotton. The startup says that it uses micromodal fabric, which is anti-microbial.

The price of the products varies with the material of the fabric. For example, their Tencel Modal trunks are available for ₹269, while Bamboo Cotton trunks are available for ₹299.

The startup sells over three lakh units per month. Their underwear products have a good demand among consumers. It aims to improve its sales further and reach more people within a year. It expects to sell around seven lakh units per month.
