Nowadays, many startups are emerging into the market to offer sustainable products. Waraq is one such startup that offers sustainable and organic products like bags, keychains, purses etc.

At the same time, it offers luxury products as well. Waraq is a Gurugram-based startup. Alok Dhodapkar and Isha C are the founders of the startup.

Alok and Isha are friends in their college. They worked in the corporate sector for more than 10 years.

Though the duo has been zeal about launching their brand since their college days, they have not stepped forward due to a lack of time.

But, the pandemic created an opportunity for them. The idea of launching a sustainable luxury brand came to them during the lockdown. They refined it till they get a clear form.

They launched Waraq in July 2022 to offer different sustainable products made from vegan and biodegradable materials like coconut leather, cactus leather, orange peels etc. Instead of chemical dyes, Waraq uses organic dyes.

The startup assures that its products are completely organic and cruelty-free. Its products are so attractive and creative that they grab the attention of many people.

Before launching the products into the market, the duo explores various available options for manufacturing their products. Also, they experiment with different types of materials.

That’s how they made fabric from orange peels. This material is cruelty-free. It is also biodegradable. They use this material for their scarf collection. They are available from ₹2,950.

In this way, the duo assures that their products are completely safe for users as well as the environment. Though they faced some challenges in this process, they overcame them.

Waraq procures raw materials directly from farmers and manufacturers. For instance, they buy coconut leather from a Kerala-based producer.

Within the launch of six months, the startup gained many loyal customers. Currently, its products are available on its website. In addition, they are sold in a few stores in Hyderabad and Kolkata.
