MySilkLove – An online portal for handcrafted sarees | Fusion - WeRIndia

Several weavers are struggling to earn a worthwhile income even though the quality of their products is good. At the same time, customers also find it difficult to get fine quality handcrafted sarees. To connect both, MySilkLove emerged.

Priyanka Ghule Katkar launched this online portal in 2020, aiming to improve the standard of life of weavers and artisans.

MySilkLove sources sarees directly from weavers and sells to customers. These handcrafted sarees are available in the range of ₹2,500 to ₹80,000.

Priyanka says that their prices are competitive as there is no involvement of middlemen. The startup offers video-based shopping and WhatsApp support. MySilkLove assists customers with live video calls so that they can check the quality and colour of sarees. It assures an easy exchange and returns policy. Customers can exchange sarees easily with its no-questions-asked exchange policy.

Initially, weavers were hesitant to sell their sarees online due to their past bad experiences, saying they were struggling to face challenges with delivery and marketing. But, Priyanka convinced them and assured them that everything would be taken care of by the company, including photoshoots of products, their pickup to delivery. The only thing that weavers have to do is to weave fine quality products.

The startup assures timely deliveries and super quality products. Priyanka says that customer satisfaction is their motto. They strive to give a fashionable look to sarees and become a one-stop destination for ethnic wear in the country.

MySilkLove is a Pune-based startup. It has a team of seven employees to travel to rural areas of the country to meet weavers. More than 1,000 artisans are working with the company from various parts of India. Currently, it is selling more than 1,500 sarees per month. The weavers and artisans are earning around 30,000 per month by selling their sarees through the MySilkLove portal.
