Four young entrepreneurs from Kozhikode, Kerala, have transformed their passion for Kozhikodan halwa into a thriving business.

Shabas Ahamed N C, Sanu Muhammed C, Irfan Safar S, and Thesreef Ali P K, all in their early 20s, launched a brand called Fulva to bring the rich, traditional flavours of halwa to a global audience.

Inspired by their cultural heritage, the quartet founded Calicut Cousins Private Limited to showcase the local delicacy with a fresh, modern twist.

Kozhikodan halwa has long been famous both in India and abroad, but the team noticed a gap in proper branding for the sweet treat.

Sanu Muhammed says that Kozhikodan halwa lacks branding and recognition like other global sweets, hence they decided to create a brand value for that.

Fulva now partners with local artisans to produce over 24 varieties of halwa, offering customers a mix of traditional and innovative flavours.

Their mission is not just to grow a business but to give Kerala’s culinary heritage the recognition it deserves.

In the eight months since launching, Fulva has already expanded its reach across India and into eight other countries.

They offer an online store where customers can purchase customised boxes of halwa, making the brand popular for personal and corporate gifting.

Despite challenges like persuading traditional manufacturers to embrace new sales strategies, Fulva has experienced rapid success. The brand offers a wide range of unique halwa flavours.

While the traditional red, yellow, and black varieties remain popular, Fulva has also introduced special flavours.

These include green chilli, tender coconut, mango, kiwi, and passion fruit. Fulva’s best sellers include the red, black, and green chilli halwas.

As Fulva continues to grow, the team is enthusiastic about introducing even more flavours and products.

With a blend of tradition and innovation, Fulva is taking Kozhikodan halwa to new heights, delighting customers worldwide.
