WhatsApp users can add descriptions to forwarded messages
WhatsApp, a messaging app owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature. It enables users to add descriptions to forwarded images, videos, GIFs, and documents on Android.
This new feature is a great addition to the platform, providing users with more flexibility and control over the content they forward.
Currently available to some beta testers, this feature allows users to provide more context and explanation to the forwarded media they send.
The description will be sent as a separate message, removing the existing caption and replacing it with the user’s own.
The new feature ensures that recipients know that the new description doesn’t belong to the original message. Users can also share their thoughts, opinions, or feelings about the content they are forwarding.
However, some users may experience issues when viewing status updates and downloading videos after installing this update, according to WABetaInfo.
This new feature is a useful addition for users who want to add a different description or if the current caption doesn’t accurately describe the image.
It also enables users to share their thoughts, opinions, or feelings about the content they are forwarding, providing more context to the recipient.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has rolled out the companion mode feature to all beta testers in its latest Android update.
The companion mode was previously only available to a select group of beta testers. It is an extension of multi-device support that enables users to link their existing WhatsApp account to another mobile phone.
This means that users can now use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices. These include their phone and tablet. They do not require a constant internet connection on the primary device.
WhatsApp’s new features aim to enhance user experience and provide more options for communication.
The ability to add descriptions to forwarded media can help users provide better context and explanations for the content they are sending.
At the same time, the companion mode feature enables greater flexibility in how users access and use their WhatsApp accounts across multiple devices.
As these features are still in beta testing, it remains to be seen when they will be available to all users.
